Derek McDermott

I am a 1974 summa cum laude graduate of Carthage College and a 1977 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. I joined the Bonk, Lutz & Hertel law firm in 1977 where I remained until joining Menn Law in 2022. I focus my area of practice in business planning and transactions, real estate transactions, estate and trust planning, and municipal law. I have served as city attorney for Chilton for many years and have been a frequent lecturer at area seminars on such topics as business and estate planning.

My wife, Susan, and I live in Chilton where we raised our three children. Susan was a long-time second grade teacher at Chilton Elementary School.

For relaxation I enjoy golf, home improvement projects and exploring ATV trails and pontooning on Fay Lake in Florence County. Susan and I also enjoy spending time with our six grandchildren.

My many years of representing individuals and businesses have given me a deep appreciation of family dynamics and relationships and what it takes to succeed in business.
